Popular Twitch streamer Felix Lengyel AKA ‘xQc’ believes that Riot Games’ League of Legends-inspired Netflix show Arcane lacks emotional depth.
Arcane was recently released on November 6th, and has filled a void for many League of Legends fans looking for more lore. Some players have been waiting for Riot to create their own cinematic series for years, and the Netflix hit has delivered exactly what they wanted.
Since its release, Arcane received a positive response from the entire League of Legends community, to the point where it has debuted at #1 on Netflix in over 30 countries. However, xQc, a popular Twitch streamer who began his career playing League of Legends, has some criticisms for the show’s creators.
During his November 13th Twitch stream, he got into a discussion about Arcane. While it was well received by many LoL fans, xQc felt there was something off about the show saying that he didn’t want to be rude or mean to Riot just for the sake of being rude or mean. But, as someone who has played League of Legends for as long as he can remember, he has seen and spent his entire life doing so and then said that the series isn’t boring, but it lacks emotional depth.
xQc added saying that some of it feels kind of hollow, and that it kind of feels like it’s not as intense. Everything feels like he’s not emotionally engaged in it that much. Given the lack of connection, he noted that there aren’t many “oh my god” moments.
Despite the xQc’s criticism, the series Arcane still has won over League players with its unique storytelling and deep dive into the Runeterra lore.
Riot has already confirmed that more shows will be produced as a result of the series’ success. xQc might find what he’s looking for in those.
