If you’ve been watching Smosh recently, you may have noticed that things have changed or that videos appear to be shot on location rather than in a studio, it’s because the popular YouTube channel was awaiting the opening of their new studio space and headquarters. The cast and crew have new digs, complete with new props and set pieces for streaming, gaming, and sketch comedy.
In 2022, the team will develop, produce, and release approximately 500 videos in various formats across more than 3,000 individual releases on its Smosh, Smosh Pit, Smosh Games, and other channels, all from this new content hub.
Two complete sound stages, a new live streaming/gaming studio for their live shows on Twitch every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, post-production suites, equipment cages, an integrated space for art design and creation, formal conference rooms, as well as a kitchen area and an open-floor office area are among the features of the new 17,000-square-foot office space and studio in Los Angeles. Rhett and Link’s Mythical Entertainment, best known for its flagship YouTube talk/variety show Good Mythical Morning, has owned the brand since 2019.
The co-founder and President of Ian Hecox says that the home base of Smosh has been a long a long time coming and that they are grateful to Rhett and their team for giving them a home at Mythical and also the support for the past few years. He also added saying that they can’t wait for their audience to see what they are able to do with the full Smosh team knowing that they are finally united under one Smoshy roof. The CEO of Smosh Daniel Tibbets also said and added that their new studio is a huge step for them knowing that not very comedy brands have been around for long and the said facility is their perfect place for their creative talent to come together, and also to collaborate and make videos for social and digital platforms.
