Details for the Season of Pride 2022 have been released by MidBoss. This month-long celebration of LGBTQIA+ diversity in gaming will take place in July. The team will use this month to raise money for deserving causes, and one of the initiatives will be a Steam event that will begin this coming Saturday, July 9th. A Nintendo eShop sale on LGBTQIA+ video games, such as Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers, Steven Universe: Unleash the Light, and Sword of the Necromancer, is among the other events scheduled for July. Along with the livestream on July 9th and lasting through July 23rd, they will also be hosting a sale and event on Steam.
There are discounts available for games with LGBTQIA+ themes, and the publisher also highlights upcoming games with those themes. Devolver Digital, Green Man Gaming, and Annapurna Interactive are a few of the additional businesses that will be taking part.
Throughout the month of July, LGBTQIA+ streamers like UrbanBohemian, DEERE, JeffBrutlag, and Miabyte will participate in marathons where they will play games with representations of queer characters, themes, and stories. The charities The Trevor Project, Trans Lifeline, Minus 18, Mermaids UK, GaymerX, Black Girls Code, Women in Games International, and Girls Who Code will receive financial support from these streams.
The event was organized by MidBoss, a developer and publisher of LGBTQ-themed games like 2064: Read Only Memories and Kitsune Tails. Throughout the month, partnered streamers will be live-streamed and re-hosted on the MidBoss Twitch Channel. Season of Pride 2022 aims to build on the achievements of Season of Pride 2021, which amassed more than 21 years of viewership of LGBTQ+ streamers and games and raised just under $30,000 for charity.
