One of the funniest and most vivacious creators in the streaming industry has always been Twitch star Imane “Pokimane” Anys. Despite the fact that the content creator’s streams are typically upbeat and humorous, the recent contentious US Supreme Court hearing has angered her.
In fact, in light of the recent Supreme Court decision that repealed the federal constitution’s right to an abortion, the Moroccan-born streamer is considering returning to her home country.
While Pokimane frequently avoids discussing her political views, there have been instances when she has been very clear about her stance on certain touchy subjects. This time, though, the streamer made hints about leaving the country altogether.
Following the historic ruling, a number of YouTube and Twitch creators, including Pokimane, have used their platforms to criticize the repeal. The Legacy Streamer of the Year voiced her thoughts on the subject via her official Twitter account right after the hearing ended.
That’s not all, though. Pokimane spoke with her Twitch community about her disappointment with the US Supreme court’s decision during the June 25, 2022 stream, she spoke briefly about the nation’s current sociopolitical climate and hinted at her intentions to relocate to Canada in addition to denouncing the infamous decision to repeal the constitutional right to abortion. Even so, the streamer insisted that the tickets were already reserved and expressing her annoyance with the Supreme Court’s recent decision to strike down Roe v. Wade.
Although she now calls California home, she was born and raised in Canada, where she spent her formative years after her mother left for Morocco when she was just four years old.
Despite this, Pokimane’s recent remarks are noteworthy because the Twitch streamer is very particular about her political stances. Pokimane has made it abundantly clear over the years that she prefers to keep her personal and professional lives separate.
However, it appears that the Roe v. Wade decision has forced her to talk about it and even bring up the possibility of leaving the country. Although it’s not clear if Pokimane is leaving the country or not, it’s clear that she’s upset about how the justice system is operating there.
