In Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Shiny Pokémon can change species depending on the time of day, allowing players to choose which Shiny Pokémon they want to use.
In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a recently discovered flaw allows players to change their Shiny Pokémon based on the time of day, resulting in a new Shiny Hunting method being added to the game. While exploring the Hisui region in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players can use a variety of new Shiny Hunting methods, including full odds appearances in the overworld and Shiny Hunting objectives. Game Freak may not have intended for the ability to swap Shiny species to be included.
Over the last few years, fans of the series have become accustomed to Shiny Hunting, which involves locating rare, alternately colored Pokémon species. While the mechanic was first introduced in the Pokémon series’ Second Generation, the changes made in later games to make Shiny Pokémon more accessible to a wider audience made it more enjoyable to a wider audience, and it has since become the focus of a number of popular Pokémon-themed YouTube and Twitch channels. Fans can enjoy a new and exciting type of Shiny hunt in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, with more players than ever able to spot the rare appearances while exploring the overworld of the Hisui region.
AustinJohnPlays explained an odd Shiny occurrence he and other players had noticed while playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus, in which a Pokémon can be swapped out depending on the time of day in a recent video shared by AustinJohnPlays. After saving his game, he encounters a Shiny Drifloon and hunkers down in a corner of the map to wait for daytime. He saves again as the new day begins, and then he returns to the spot where the Shiny Drifloon first appeared. Instead of the Ghost Pokémon that spawns at night, AustinJohnPlays shows a Shiny Starly that has appeared. With a Shiny Murkrow and a Glameow, Sibuna Switch successfully demonstrated the method on Twitter, proving that it is more than a one-time occurrence.
The most likely reason for why Shiny Pokémon can be swapped in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is spawned changes in each location, according to AustinJohnPlays. Certain Pokémon species have a higher or lower chance of spawning in certain areas in every Pokémon game. In this case, Pokémon like Drifloon and Starly are likely to appear at the same time, and the Pokémon species switch out at the end of the night and day cycles because Pokémon stay on maps until they completely despawn. While this means that certain Shiny Pokémon can be swapped using this method, it’s also possible that only a few Pokémon species that share these spawn slots will be able to do so.
There’s a chance this type of Shiny hunting method in Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be patched in future updates because it’s unclear if it’s a bug. As a result, those who want to swap Shinys will want to do so as soon as possible so that they don’t miss out on the chance to do so. Other players, on the other hand, may believe this is a type of Shiny hunting cheat and prefer to hunt Shiny Pokémon without exploits in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Finding fun oddities while exploring is a great way to try something new and share a surprising experience with other Shiny hunters, regardless of how they choose to Shiny hunt.
