Since the game’s release, players in the Europe Central region have had to endure long wait times.
Since the game’s launch in the EU and North America earlier this month, players in Europe have been dealing with long lines. To help alleviate the strain, Amazon Games launched a new region called Europe West last week, though it cautioned that the Europe West servers would only “reduce, not eliminate, queue times for Europe Central.”
Unfortunately, that appears to be the best we can hope for. The Lost Ark team acknowledged in a new update that there isn’t much it can do for Europe Central due to the game’s underlying structure.
The fact that Lost Ark does not fully support server transfers complicates the situation even more. In Korea, where Lost Ark has been running since 2019, a server transfer option “just rolled out,” but it’s a manual process that runs weekly and doesn’t support cross-region transfers, meaning that players can transfer to other servers in Europe Central but not to the new servers on Europe West.
In the short term, the Europe West region will be a huge help to newcomers and players who haven’t gotten very far in Lost Ark on Europe Central, but it will be less so for players who are well into the game and don’t want to abandon their characters or progress.
However, Amazon Games said in an email to PC Gamer that the launch of the Europe West region is already helping to relieve the load, resulting in shorter queue times.
Amazon is also offering a second version of the Lost Ark founders packs to players who purchased them, allowing them to create new characters in the new Europe West region without losing all of their startup loot.
The Lost Ark update also includes improvements to matchmaking, reducing gold seller spam, preventing fraudulent purchases, and improving stability. Playlostark.com has all the details.
