A man on the subway threatened an IRL Twitch streamer that goes by the name MissPla, when he confronted her about filming him without permission.
MissyPla, a Twitch streamer, was travelling the subway in Bangkok with her chat when a fellow passenger began ranting about global health concerns. The man, who seemed to be from America or an English-speaking country, yelling and raving loudly, interrupted MissyPla’s talk.
Despite ignoring him, she did focus the camera on him for a few moments so that her viewers could see what she was up to, but this seemed to attract the attention of the stranger who approached her. The stranger hissed as he walked straight into the camera stating; “Are you guys really that stupid? Are you recording me right now?” The streamer was taken aback and attempted to excuse herself by stating that she was simply displaying her face.
The stranger went on to threaten the streamer stating; “That’s fine, but if I see it online, I will take you to court and sue your ass. Are you recording right now?!”
Because of this, MissPla responded as the stranger asked the same question over and over again, and the man demanded that she stop filming him. She said; “You came to join me!”
Fortunately, the situation did not escalate, and it appeared that the man exited the tube or relocated to another location. After some concerns from her chat, the streamer addressed the drama a little later. She explained; “This is not America, this is Thailand. He’s misunderstanding something. I can’t believe he just walked to me and talked to me like that.”
It’s unclear if the man even knew what broadcast he was watching or who the streamer was, so he’s unlikely to be able to sue in the first place, and Missy’s attitude suggests she was unconcerned about his threats. Still, it shows that IRL streaming may be a risky game, as strangers in the wild might be unpredictable.
