Twitch streamer Nmplol was recently featured in an IRL sub-only stream. Surprisingly, he was also planning to make a VOD from the stream for YouTube. However, early in the stream, a stranger misinterprets a conversation between him and Malena and asks if she is in danger. She insisted that everything was fine, but Nmplol wasn’t impressed with the interruption.
A stranger abruptly interrupted a sub-only stream, and Nmplol did not seem to take it well. Nick said he wasn’t talking because she kept running away from him while the two streamers were conversing. Malena was visibly irritated, and before Nick could inquire further, a stranger appeared.
Malena observed that Nick was calm while she was agitated, but when she asked why, a stranger interjected with a question.
Malena insisted that everything was fine and that Nmplol was not bothering her in any way. The stranger then waved, apologized, and continued down the path, pausing only to look back once more.
Nick then mentioned the White Knights arriving to save the day, and she briefly mentioned that she had the racists acting up. To say the least, his demeanor had changed. Malena remained tense, and Nick admitted that the previous incident with the stranger had stressed him out more than anything else.
The streamer claimed that there was open racism on Twitch, with a stranger intervening to ensure Malena’s safety. Some of the people in his chat thought the stranger was joking, but Nmplol didn’t think so.
Despite the fact that subscriber-only streams are available on Twitch, several users in the LiveStreamFails subReddit dismissed it as a bad idea. Even if the intention was to create a VOD for YouTube, some fans thought it was a bad move.
Others disagreed, claiming that, given the scarcity of other Twitch subscriber benefits, running a sub-only stream was a good idea.
Some people were simply unimpressed by the content. Given Nick’s foul mood and Malena’s stress, it didn’t appear to be an enjoyable viewing experience for some.
Others discussed the situation in which the stranger appeared. Not everyone agreed with Nick’s accusation that the person was a racist. When dealing with potentially heated discussions in public, some people believed it was better to be safe than sorry. Others came up with better suggestions, such as waiting more than five seconds before intervening.
However, some people agreed with Nmplol that the color of the streamer’s skin may have caused concern on a subconscious level.
It quickly escalated into a heated debate, and for those unfamiliar with Nick and Malena’s content, it could easily appear that someone is being harassed or that a couple is arguing. In the end, it became content for the streamer, though only time will tell if this moment is included in their trip’s future VOD.
