Today, after Sentinels lost two consecutive maps against NRG in VCT Americas, “Kyedae” Shymko shared with her audience how she and Tyson “TenZ” handle the pressure and negativity that follows a defeat.

Fans were naturally interested in learning how the two handled losing matches in the competitive environment because they are a veritable Valorant power couple. Kyedae noted that TenZ prefers to spend some time alone before “chilling” as they usually do while watching anime and eating, saying: “I give him, like, his own time to kind of like, do whatever. And then we’ll watch some anime and eat, chill. That’s about it, it just depends.”

The Valorant community is supported by Shymko and Tyson, who both frequently stream the game on their individual Twitch channels. The two made their engagement public last year, and since then, they have become crucial components of Riot’s tactical shooter. TenZ has been a competitive player in esports since CS:GO, although Kyedae has also dabbled in professional play after being selected by Disguised Toast for the DSG VCT Game Changers lineup. Sadly, the squad was unable to get through the qualifying rounds.

Today at the VCT Americas 2023, Sentinels played NRG and lost. While she was streaming, one of her viewers asked her the following question, which she read aloud to her audience: “What do you usually say to Tyson when he takes a tough loss?”

Kyedae clarified how people who have recently suffered a loss in a game of skill do not especially want to be reminded of that: “Um, nothing. When people lose, they don’t really want to hear, like, all of these things. They just… like to just chill.” She explained that everyone deals with loss in their own unique ways, but for her and TenZ, lounging around, watching stuff, and unwinding are what work: “Some people like to be comforted differently. But Tyson it’s like, we’re just extra chill.”

In addition, Kyedae explained to her audience that focusing on getting ready for the upcoming match is the most crucial aspect of being a well-known esports player like TenZ, who is virtually always in the spotlight. She uttered: “It’s GG go next. There’s no point in like, I don’t know, like linger on it. As a player though, it can be difficult especially if he didn’t have the greatest performance. It does suck, especially like Tyson. Being as big of a name he is in Valorant, and having like really high expectations from everyone, um, it’s more stress.”

The 100Thieves content creator also discussed the negativity that gamers and streamers encounter after losing games and admitted that she detests comparisons: “And people are really nasty, constantly comparing… I don’t know, for me, I would hate to be compared. It would really suck. Just imagine constantly being compared to people…”
