While sleeping on stream, Esfand was startled awake by a YouTube video prank, which made for a hilarious moment.

He is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers. Recently, he completed his subathon, a fundraiser in which viewers can donate money to keep a streamer’s stream running, with each donation adding time to the countdown clock.

Sleeping on stream is one of the requirements of a subathon. While Ludwig was sleeping, he set up a podcast for his moderators, and Esfand had other ideas for keeping his chat entertained while he was sleeping.

Esfand’s method was to put on a series of YouTube videos and let them play until he woke up, and the video series that was playing at the time was called “How It’s Made,” which goes over the process of making everyday items from start to finish while providing light commentary over the footage of the product being made.

The episode was about how cakes are mass-produced, and it showed how they are baked, frosted, cut, and touched up by a variety of machines and workers. The video’s narrator, on the other hand, decided to play a joke on his audience, claiming that he knows a large portion of his audience watches his videos while sleeping.

After prefacing the joke, the narrator instructed his audience to remain silent about it, stating that no one should mention it in the comments or discuss it online in order to preserve the joke.

Then he screamed into his microphone, yelling at the audience to wake up.

Esfand awoke immediately and looked over at the video, perplexed by what was going on, but the video continued as if nothing had happened.

Later, when the streamer saw the video of him waking up, he burst out laughing at the perfect prank, completely oblivious to the fact that someone would do such a devilish thing to people sleeping.

The prank on Esfand was flawlessly executed while he was sleeping. One can only imagine how many more people have been duped by this prank, and how many of them are unaware that it was the video that jolted them awake.
