Twitch streamer Destiny and political commentator has been banned from the platform.
This isn’t the first time the streamer has been suspended from the platform. Since 2018, he’s been banned six times.
The most recent ban for Destiny was issued on March 23, 2022. Though neither Destiny nor Twitch have given an official reason for the streamer’s sudden suspension, speculation has quickly grown.
Destiny’s suspension is most likely due to his recent debate with well-known white nationalist Nick Fuentes. On March 20th, the streamer, who is known for debating controversial far-right figures, featured Fuentes on a livestream. Countless platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and most other mainstream websites, have banned the alt-right speaker.
Destiny had been broadcasting the debate on Twitch and YouTube, but only switched to YouTube after about 10 minutes. Banned streamers are not allowed to participate in live broadcasts on Twitch. Unfortunately for Destiny, he may have shown the banned individual for an excessive amount of time in order to avoid a ban. However, Fuentes isn’t the only banned streamer with whom Destiny has interacted. Mrgirl, who has been banned since March 1, 2022, has frequently streamed alongside him.
Other possible reasons for Destiny’s recent platform ban have surfaced, including a Twitter account linked to the streamer. Throughout the week, the Omni Liberal account has been discussing trans athletes and their ability to compete in sports.
A racial slur was also used in the account, as well as a photoshopped image of Destiny in blackface.
There’s no word on how long Destiny’s ban will last or whether he’ll be able to stream on Twitch again.
