Although he acknowledges that it may be a bit of a turnoff for some more casual viewers, Asmongold has established a reputation as one of the most outspoken streamers on Twitch in recent years, and he says he has no plans to change.
He gave the following explanation saying that he doesn’t want to continue holding his tongue because being direct and giving his opinion on games, issues, and drama is “in his nature.”
Since then, Asmongold has made numerous comments on a variety of topics, including parasocial relationships in Twitch streaming, pay-to-win microtransactions, and sponsored gambling streams.
It coincides with his decision to stop streaming video games in favor of spending more time interacting with Twitch viewers, which accounted for 50% of his total stream time in 2022—a significant increase from previous years.
In a July 8th YouTube video, Asmongold provided more details. In truth, the decision hasn’t at all hurt Asmongold’s viewership.
In 2022, he had 75,000 more viewers per stream on average than ever before. On June 1, with 448,161 viewers, he also surpassed his previous peak viewership record. However, not everyone agrees. He claimed that maintaining self-containment was difficult and stressful, so he wanted to escape.
And right now, he has, in typical Asmongold fashion.
