Asmongold is fed up with “pay-to-win” microtransactions in MMOs like Lost Ark and wants players to band together to persuade developers to eliminate them.
According to Asmongold, MMOs have had pay-to-win elements for quite some time. He said that Lost Ark, along with World of Warcraft, was one of the culprits, but that both games were still enjoyable, and his annoyance peaked after Amazon Games added the Argos Abyss raid to Lost Ark, which many considered to be pay-to-win. He claimed they’d lose players as a result of it, and he threatened to expose other pay-to-win issues if they didn’t take action.
Now, he’s gone a step further, urging MMO players to band together to end pay-to-win microtransactions once and for all, claiming that they should be treated the same as non-financial transactions (NFTs).
Microtransactions for pay-to-win games have become an integral part of the MMO experience. Asmongold has the ability to rally MMO players and encourage developers to make them less of a problem and his sphere of influence is enormous as a veteran MMO player who also happens to be one of the most popular Twitch streamers. Still, it’s a massive undertaking that will necessitate the participation of thousands, if not millions, of people.
