Even though they had previously criticized Hasan’s views on gambling streams, the Twitch viewer who admitted to supposedly “destroying their existence” through gambling received some advice from Hasan.
Recently, the subject of gambling on Twitch has generated a lot of discussion, with many broadcasters expressing their views on whether or not it belongs online. For instance, well-known users on the site like Pokimane, Hasan, and even former Twitch star Ludwig have all expressed their dislike of gambling. Twitch recently put a ban on a few gambling websites on the platform, including those that don’t offer enough customer protection, in response to the growing backlash. Stake, Rollbit, and Duelbits were among the few websites that were initially banned by Twitch in September 2022. Hasan, who has long been outspoken about his opposition to gambling on Twitch, was happy to hear of the bans and at the moment gave the ruling a “W” on Twitter.
Hasan was recently made aware of the perils of gambling and gambling addiction on live, though, after one of his viewers informed him of their circumstance in his Twitch chat months after Twitch took action. During a recent live, Ryiize, a Twitch user, entered Hasan’s chat to let the streamer know about their claimed struggles with addiction and gambling. Since Ryiize was initially intended for gambling, their past chat activity is evidence of this. Their most recent communication, however, highlighted the negative aspects of gambling and its consequences.
Ryiize apologized to Hasan and said she was sorry, acknowledging that their gambling addiction had allegedly destroyed their relationship. “I understand that you probably won’t read this. But a while ago I came in here and said gambling on twitch wasn’t bad. Fast forward a year later and I destroyed my life and now have a terrible addiction that I have to get professional help for. Here’s my apology to you. You were right.”
Hasan felt bad for the viewer because they seemed shocked after reading their remark. However, they provided them with some much-needed support and offered the chatter some helpful guidance. “Man listen, I’m glad that you’re getting help. In Turkey, we have a saying… which means no matter where you turn, away from a loss, it’s profit. So ultimately, you’ve turned it around, so that’s a good thing, you know.”
Since Twitch still allows viewers and streamers to participate in gambling games in categories like Slots, the company hasn’t completely cracked down on the practice. This brief illustration, however, only serves to highlight the risks associated with gaming and how dangerously addictive it can be.
