The AT&T Unlocked Games, a women’s game-development competition, is now accepting submissions for its second season. Women developers and women-led development teams are invited to compete for a $100,000 grand prize to fund their game.
The lead developer must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States to be eligible. Those who want to compete must send the panel their game information as well as a three-minute video introducing themselves, their team, and the backstory of their game.
A gameplay video with seven minutes of continuous gameplay and a playable game demo are also required. Finally, a budget detailing how the $100,000 prize will be spent on game development is required.
Overall visuals, audio design, gameplay and mechanics, and creativity and story are the game’s scoring criteria. To determine the grand prize winner, they’ll be graded on a scale of 1-10.
On January 28th, six finalists will be announced, and they will compete in a live showcase on March 15th. During this time, all of the finalists will present their games to a panel of judges known as the “End Bosses,” who will choose a winner and runner-up.
Fans who are watching the showcase will have a say in who they want to win the grand finals, and they will be able to express their thoughts through a Gamer’s Choice winner.
The showcase will be live streamed on AT&T’s Twitch channel on March 15th, and those interested in competing in the competition have until January 28th to submit the necessary documents.
