FaZe Clan co-owner Ricky ‘Banks’ Bengston has responded to allegations that he was involved in offshore gambling.
Various charges against YouTube personalities have surfaced throughout 2021, accusing them of participating in cryptocurrency schemes and other gambling activities. After a video from infamous YouTube detective Coffeezilla hinted something shady was going on, NELK Boys’ SteveWillDoIt totally wiped his gambling channel in October 2021.
FaZe Clan has had its own problems, with members Kay, Jarvis, Nikan, and Teeqo being kicked out or suspended for allegedly pumping and dumping a cryptocurrency called Save the Kids.
Banks’ involvement with Roobet and its owners has lately been suggested by fans and detractors online, thanks to a massive agreement with the company that saw them fly Banks, Adin Ross, and others out to Mexico and pay them roughly $2 million to advertise the platform. The biggest difficulty is that Roobet is not available in the United States, which is why their activities has been questioned.
Because of this, Banks have decided to discussed the allegations on the BFFs podcast with Josh Richards and Barstool’s Dave Portnoyhe stated; “We did a 1-month stint campaign with them [Roobet], we were getting jets to Mexico, we did it completely 100% legit. I’m as legit as it gets.”
While Richards claimed that influencers were advising people to download a VPN in order to access the site, Banks disputed that this was the case. He added; “That never happened, at least not from us”.
He went on to explain that “we got paid fat for it,” but indicated some ambiguity about what he and others were accused of, stating; “There were transactions with a [Ethereum] wallet super connected to Roobet, and it was like, ‘Why’s all this money coming in from this wallet to Banks, and then two seconds later he’s buying CryptoPunks’?”
While Banks isn’t known for speaking out about his personal life or behind-the-scenes happenings, he is convinced that he hasn’t done anything wrong in this situation and doesn’t want to be associated with it.
