Over the years, Twitch streamers have gone through a number of interesting metas, in which streamers have stepped outside of their comfort zones and tried something new. A meta can begin on a high note but eventually fall short of capturing the audience’s attention.

The “sleeping meta,” which gained popularity in 2019-2020, is one example of a meta that falls into this category. Former Twitch streamer Ludwig popularized a new style of streaming called Subathon the following year, and it began to gain popularity once more.
