After speaking with him at TwitchCon 2022, IRL streamer JakeNBake referred to Dan Clancy as “out of touch.”
This past weekend, TwitchCon 2022 brought together creators from all around the world for the first time in three years in San Diego, California. It wasn’t without its share of problems, though; fans complained that the DreamSMP panel was a “disaster,” and a controversial foam pit hurt several attendees of the event. The event’s president, Dan Clancy, was spoken to by Twitch broadcaster JakeNBake, who afterwards referred to him as “out of touch” on stream.
JakeNBake had a meeting with Twitch CEO Dan Clancy during the occasion, and they discussed the most recent sub-revenue split as well as other features of the website. In a video clip posted on Twitter by LowcoTV, Jake admits that the chat hasn’t exactly left him feeling pumped. He explained; “I’m gonna be honest dude, the president of Twitch… I have no problem personally with him but honestly, I don’t feel confident as a streamer on the platform with someone who is that out of touch with what the streamers need and want. I walked away feeling, depressed. Seriously. Sad.”
One of the primary reasons Twitch has come under fire recently is its recent announcement to totally phase out the 70/30 sub-revenue split on the platform. Creators from all around the world immediately expressed their displeasure with the decision, but Chief Monetization Officer Mike Minton defended it at the “Patch Notes” session at TwitchCon.
