Pokimane has ruled out the possibility of joining Kick in the future, adding that she doesn’t see the need to “compromise” her “morals and ethics” now that she is established and content with her current situation.
Through ground-breaking agreements, emerging streaming service Kick has started to compile a legion of well-known Twitch and YouTube superstars. Most recently, xQc announced that he has signed a historic contract with the platform, one that might make him $100 million without even requiring him to completely leave Twitch. As a result, several other well-known content producers have been debating whether or not to switch to Kick. And if they were to do that, what sort of cost would have to be imposed on them before they would even think about it?
Pokimane was recently asked by her chat if she would think about joining Kick during a stream. Poki quickly started to shake her head and then said, “Nope.” She continued by explaining why she is opposed to making the same jump across as so many others. She dismissed a question from a fan who asked if she would do it for $10 million right away. She continued, “And it’s not because I’ve got $10 million. It’s just because I am good as I am. Why would I compromise my morals and ethics for more money when I have money? Something about that is so cringe to me personally. I understand you know, if you need to make money. For me to do cringe sh*t when I have money, I can’t. Like, ew.”
Poki has similarly indicated why, despite her fanbase and community persistently pressuring her to do so, she would never want to create an OnlyFans account. “I know that’s not the career path for me…It’s just like that. I know I like blue and I know I don’t like green peppers. I don’t like the way that they taste. It’s that simple.”
If Pokimane keeps her word and refuses to stream on Kick, only time will tell. Even if she declines, numerous other well-known streamers could still sign at some point in the near future.
