After broadcasting live in a bunny suit shortly after Easter, content creatorJennaLynnMeowri was given a temporary Twitch ban.
Meowri, a content creator who has been streaming on the Amazon-backed platform for a number of years, just received her first Twitch ban. The well-known persona was abruptly taken down from the streaming platform hours after teasering fans on social media with a “playboy bunny cocktail stream,” one in which she would be donning a bunny suit. Meowri posted on Twitter shortly after being taken offline without her will, “Got banned for a bunny suit.” An immediate attempt to appeal the penalty led to the discovery of more information regarding the ban itself. She will have a 24-hour suspension, and on April 11 her account will be unfrozen.
According to Twitch, the rabbit costume violated the platform’s terms of service since it was deemed to be “inappropriate attire” for the live stream. A difficult issue that sparked heated debate in the Twitter comments. “Others stream in bunny suits though,” fellow content creator susu chimed in. Answering back, Meowri suggested some particularly bitter viewers may have forced Twitch’s hand in landing the very first strike on her account. “Wouldn’t be surprised if someone botted the report feature,” she said.
Others, however, responded with comparable tales, and one internet celebrity, Holly Wolf, detailed how she was purportedly banned from Twitch for the same reason. She claimed that she was barred for wearing a rabbit costume in her profile picture rather than really streaming live while wearing one. “Those damn exposed hips,”
Meowri’s Twitch account is still inactive on the website, and the ban is still in effect. She may soon be reinstated, though, if the appeal is successful in a timely manner. The originator of the content will, at the very least, be permitted to rejoin Twitch as of April 11.
