The multiplayer mode for Halo Infinite has been released, and cheating has already begun.
Players have reported encountering cheaters in 343’s free-to-play competitive shooter, which is still in beta mode for multiplayer.
Twitch streamer Douglas Wolf AKA “DougisRaw” recently tweeted a video of himself watching a clip of a Halo Infinite cheater using what appears to be an aimbot and a wallhack.
Cheating in video games is more common on the PC, though it does happen on consoles, and it’s more common in free-to-play games than premium games. Now that cheating has been discovered in Halo Infinite, some console players are requesting that 343 add the ability to disable crossplay with PC.
You can’t turn off cross-play between PC and Xbox in Halo Infinite. Players in ranked arenas, on the other hand, have the option of playing with either mouse and keyboard or controller players. This may result in longer matchmaking times, and some console players are setting up their games to play with controller players in the hopes of avoiding encountering PC cheaters.
Halo Infinite can, of course, be played with a controller on a PC. Xbox players are currently unable to avoid playing with PC players who use a controller.
This isn’t the first time we’ve been here. Last year, we reported on console players turning off crossplay to avoid PC cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone. Cheating continued to plague Warzone, prompting Activision to announce a new anti-cheat system that will be implemented in the game soon.
343 Industries and Microsoft will be desperate to avoid Halo Infinite suffering the same fate. In the fight against cheating, game companies face an uphill battle, but Halo Infinite hopes to mitigate cheating as much as possible in the months ahead.
