This is the latest, and most successful, online adaptation of the popular paper collectable deckbuilding game that was launched as an open beta on September 27, 2018. Unlike the paper version, MTG: Arena is F2P, with new players receiving 5 free decks when they complete the tutorials and further free decks and packs as they proceed with the game. Furthermore, the game will only feature the latest legal sets of the game, with each cycling out every two years. This means that players wishing to remain F2P will have to do a lot of grinding to eventually build a really competitive deck. While it has yet to break into Twitch’s top ten, it has been considered good enough for top HearthStone players such as Amaz and Sjow to switch to it when they need a change of pace.
