A League of Legends player became viral after trash-talking his opponents in a way that had never been witnessed before.
Over the last few years, one of Riot Games’ top priorities has been to reduce toxicity in League of Legends. In the past, the game has had player conduct issues, and those engaged have tried their hardest to avoid being punished for talking smack.
Marc ‘Caedrel‘ Lamont, a former League of Legends pro player and Twitch streamer, was streaming several solo queue matches that pros were playing in during the build-up to Worlds 2021.
In the match, he noticed something unusual.When a streamer who was playing Kindred, known as “I Flame In Morse” and typed a Morse code message in-game chat.
The streamer used a Morse code translator to discover that the player had typed “GG ES” to the opposing team.
Learning Morse code particularly for the sake of trash-talking your opponents is a renowned strategy that deserves to be respected. It’s also a decent workaround for Riot’s detection system, so if the player keeps typing to opponents, they’re unlikely to be banned.
With LoL Worlds 2021 only a few days away, the pros may be seeking for whatever advantage they can get, even learning Morse code to smack talk their opponents.
