AGDQ 2022 list of games has been recently released, with nearly 200 hours of speedruns planned for the marathon week beginning next year 2022 of January.
The marathon will feature a diverse selection of games, ranging from the NES to the current generation of consoles. Many games released in 2021, such as Axiom Verge 2, DEATHLOOP, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits, will be featured for the first time in the speedrunning showcase.
Other highlights include ‘Silly Games Block,’ The Simpsons: Bart’s House of Weirdness for MS-DOS, Zelda’s Adventure for the Philips CD-i, and Sonic Jam, MegaDrive Sonic games four compilations ported to the a monochrome handheld manufactured by Tiger Electronics called game.com.
The event originally began in 2010, is usually held at a physical location in the United States, but due to safety concerns and this time of pandemic, it has been held online since March 2020. As they look into ways to return to in-person events safely in the future, staff members have expressed their gratitude for everyone’s “support and patience.”
The said marathon that went to various charities raised over a massive amount of $34 million, including Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation, through its various events. AGDQ 2020 holds the current record for the most money raised at a single event, with nearly $3.2 million raised for cancer prevention research.
