Twitch streamer known for making NSFW content, Amouranth pioneered a new streaming activity that quickly grew in popularity.
Amouranth has established herself as one of the most popular female Twitch streamers. Though there have been some bumps in the road and controversies, one could argue that they have contributed to her success, particularly in the last year. The hot tub meta that swept Twitch earlier this year, bringing up many different perspectives on why sexualized content should or shouldn’t be allowed on the streaming platform used by teens and children, is one of the most iconic examples.
However, mature content appears to have triumphed, especially after Twitch stated that it would not discriminate against attractive women or audiences who find them attractive, even in the case of Amouranth, who has made it clear that she is monetizing her body and making good money doing so. The ASMR trend followed the hot tub meta, with many streamers still licking microphones in exchange for purchased subs and bits. Now, Amouranth has created a new Twitch meta that revolves around wearing yoga pants while playing the classic game Twister.
Though her life and career have other focuses, Amouranth’s brand has become suggestive content. Aside from some well-received cosplays, Amouranth hopes to one day open an animal shelter, and she’s incorporated this dream into Twitch’s Animals, Aquariums, and Zoos category. Amouranth is still in her yoga pants, most of her content is much more wholesome and innocent than what she’s known for.
Many other big names on Twitch, such as Ludwig, have praised the streamer for his wit. One strategy she used to attract attention was to place a green circle around her profile icon. This not only makes the profile stand out, but it also gives the impression that the streamer has a new’story’ to view, similar to Instagram’s feature. On Twitch, however, there is no such feature, so they are directed to Amouranth’s page or live stream instead.
Despite this, Amouranth has been temporarily banned five times since the beginning of 2019, all for sexual content that appears to have violated Twitch’s guidelines. Her bans, on the other hand, have never lasted more than three days. Some speculate (and complain) that Amouranth receives preferential treatment from Twitch, but her reactions to bans and demonetizations suggest she isn’t aware of this. It’s possible that Amouranth is on Twitch’s recently-leaked ‘no ban’ list because of her popularity, but the list was said to be dated anyway, so there’s no way of knowing for sure.
Regardless, Amouranth has benefited from her experience as a seasoned streamer on the platform. Audiences are easily drawn to her content, and it appears as if she’s always coming up with new ways to innovate her channel or reclaim her status as a media darling. A good example of this is the Twister metagame.
