xQc and Sodapoppin Are Hit With DDoS Attacks

In what appeared to be a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack yesterday, a few of Twitch’s most popular streamers began to experience connection troubles on the platform.

Twitch streamers Sodapoppin, xQc, and Nick Polom spent some time yesterday on Steam playing Crab Game, a new game that appears to be based on the popular Netflix show Squid Game. However, the game’s Steam description would have you believe otherwise.

The Steam about page reads; “Definitely not based on any online streaming pop culture korean tv shows, as that would get me in legal trouble, so we’re certainly not doing that.”

The three streamers began to experience connection troubles after playing the game, which appear to be related to a suspected DDoS attack that may have resulted from an IP leak in the game.

Sodapoppin even went so far as to ask the person responsible for the DDoS to “do it again, just to confirm” that the internet troubles were caused by a DDoS attack and not by a bad connection. Polom, who lives with Sodapoppin, later announced on Twitter that he was cancelling his stream set for today and that the home was working out its IP problems.

Also, twitch streamer xQc posted on twitter that he’ll be streaming “if it’s possible,” but he, too, is having internet problems and may need to change his IP.
