Tyler1 Challenges Chess Personalities

On July 27, 2023, prominent IRL streamer Jinnytty faced up against Twitch star Tyler “Tyler1” in the PogChamps 5 Chess competition.

Chess Master Levy Rozman, commonly known as GothamChess, praised Tyler1’s skills after Tyler1 prevailed. The Missouri native, however, was mocked by Rozman when the latter advised him to “fine tune” his entrances and gave some tips. Levy Rozman was told to halt “backseat gaming” by Tyler1, who then asserted that he had self-taught himself the game of chess. Then he bet $10,000, saying he could defeat Rozman “on the first try”: “Shut the f**k up with your back-seat gaming! I’m self-taught. Who are you, bro? Put me one-on-one; give me 1v1 against this guy! I’ll put in 10 grand – I’ll beat this guy first try! Who is this guy to say that he could beat me at Chess? You’ve never even played me, bro!”

Tyler1 continued to challenge Chess Grandmasters like Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru “GMHikaru,” asserting that he “levels up” to his opponents, saying: “I level up to my opponent, by the way. I level up! I, like, match the competition. You can put me against that Hikaru guy or the Magnus Carlsen guy. I will body them, bro! I’ll give them a competitive match. I play with my performer, equal to my counterpart, bro. Give me them, bro! Let’s go!”

The r/LivestreamFail subreddit went popular after the Twitch streamer challenged Magnus Carlsen, GMHikaru, and Levy Rozman to a $10,000 Chess match. While some viewers made fun of Tyler’s pronunciation of the names Hikaru and Carlsen
