Twitch Streamers Appear In An Anime

In the anime Tribe Nine, roving bands of baseball players compete in an extreme version of the sport against one another. Distributor Funimation decided to give one of the titular tribes a star-studded lineup for the English dub. The series features voice roles for top streamers Corpse Husband, Disguised Toast, Sykkuno, and Valkyrae, with the latter three creators teaming up as members of the Hannya tribe.

Funimation has released 12 episodes of Tribe Nine’s English dub, with the 11th episode featuring the majority of the featured creators. Disguised Toast (real name Jeremy Wang) posted on YouTube his reaction to his v/o work, which included a lot of grunting. He did much better in the recording booth than Sykkuno, according to his commentary; the soft-spoken streamer needed several takes to nail his role as a giggling villain in a trenchcoat. Sykkuno’s female counterpart was played by Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter, a Twitch and YouTube sensation.

These may appear to be minor roles, but some were created specifically for the streaming celebrities who played them.

A look at the Tribe Nine cast list reveals a few more streamers who made the Hannya tribe. Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White and YouTube Gaming star Technoblade are both in the running.

You might notice that one of the Hannya tribe’s members is missing. Toast, Sykkuno, and Valkyrae were all cast as grunting ninjas, but the Amigops’ other member landed a much bigger part. Although Corpse Husband has stepped back from his streaming career, he has not remained out of the spotlight.
