Super Mario Speedrunners Achieved Fastest Possible Times

Super Mario Speedrunners Achieved Fastest Possible Times

One of the most well-known video games ever made is Super Mario, and some players are approaching what might be considered a perfect run.

Some people view gaming as more than just a fun hobby or an interesting story. It represents a specific kind of challenge and is not always based on the core gameplay. Running is still very much alive and well, and there are many talented players who are able to complete games in world record times. Recently, the speedrunning competition Summer Games Done Quick raised millions for charity. No one understands this more than Super Mario Bros. fans, and it appears that a “perfect” run is just around the corner.

Twitch streamer Nebula_Composer, recently posted a video in which they demonstrated their speedrunning prowess by beating the first Super Mario Bros. in just 4:54:948. This is the third time the game has been completed in less than 4:55. Even though the most recent video doesn’t hold the world record, it is just a few seconds away from overtaking the top spot.

Athletes are now cutting precious frames off each run as they get closer to the “fastest time possible.” All three players are allegedly very close to achieving the target time of 4:54:26.

The iconic platformer’s speedruns may no longer be possible if this frame-perfect time is ever attained. There are, of course, other ways for individuals to challenge themselves. One person, for instance, completed a speedrun of Super Mario with just one hand. Just three seconds separate the top three records, and their time of 4:57:676 is incredibly impressive given that they only needed one hand.

Evidently, fans are eager to add a little something unique to their runs. Even using a piano, one Elden Ring player was able to win.

There are many games that are suitable for speedrunning, especially for beginners, for those who are interested. Some games are obviously harder to master than others, but if a game exists, it’s likely that someone has set a world record for beating it in record time. But it takes time and commitment, and according to Nebula Composer, it took them five months and 8,893 tries to succeed in their attempt.

Super Mario is one of the most recognizable video games ever produced, and it has one of the most well-known opening levels ever, according to the classic NES game itself. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that so many players have come close to completing a perfect run of this cherished platformer given that it has been around for more than three and a half decades.
