Streamers Reacts After Twitch Recommends Explicit Broadcast

The site is being criticized by xQc and other Twitch streamers for allegedly including an explicit broadcast in its recommended area.

Twitch star xQc was astounded by what he saw when he entered the website’s homepage on July 27. In a clip from his feed, the streamer can be seen wiping his lips with his hand before going to the Twitch homepage, where the bodypainting broadcaster “Taylor Jevaux” was listed under “Channels we think you’ll like.”

Jevaux was depicted with some paint covering her chest and nearly no clothing. However, it is not the most alarming aspect of the incident; the broadcast also included the phrase “18+, is this even allowed?” along with a water drop emoji. Before they began making fun of the scenario, an incredulous xQc asked his companion, “Are you seeing this?”

Although not the only streamer receiving this broadcast on his homepage is xQc. The problem is also being experienced by many other streamers, who speculate that the streamer was pushing Twitch’s boundaries, and they aren’t thrilled about the ordeal. Others compare Twitch to Kick, a website that has previously come under fire for the type of content it accepts on its platform. In contrast, Twitch is believed to be tougher.

Taylor Jevaux, the Twitch streamer in charge of the broadcast, doesn’t typically appear in her own broadcasts. Earlier this month, Jevaux gained notoriety for “baiting” her followers with the promise of a hot tub stream but never actually showing up on camera. Instead, she spoke to her viewers while standing off to the side of the stream. She would only briefly come into view to perform exercises like body-weight squats for around five minutes at a time.

Twitch’s Community Guidelines state that sexually suggestive or graphic content can result in a suspension, however this new incident has created a lot of disagreement among users who are criticizing the platform for failing to take action on Jevaux’s content. This is only the most recent incident in which a streamer has complained about Twitch for punishing her with a 24-hour ban after her elderly dog had an accident while she was broadcasting.
