A Twitch streamer who was in Portugal went above and beyond to teach some young people after he overheard them using racist language.
The Twitch community is ecstatic about the increase in IRL broadcasts that have occurred as a result of streamers starting to travel again. There are frequently antics going on when streamers like Jinny and JakeNBake share their vacation experiences, and that’s what happened during a recent show. On February 14, the well-known streamer “JOEYKAOTYK” was in Porto and started looking at some stuff in a store window. However, things quickly turned ugly when he overheard some young children making racial remarks.
A racial remark could be heard in the background as the streamer gazed into the store; streamers occasionally have to deal with this. He then focused on a group of children who appeared to be on a field trip. He yelled as he drew near the youngsters, “What?! What did you say? What did you call me? Don’t say that, it’s bad.”
Joey continued by saying that he overheard one of the boys calling another boy “ching chong” and warned him not to do so, which the youngster seemed to comprehend and acknowledge. “Don’t say that! Thank you. Bye-bye!” the streamer waved as the kids went on their way.
In Joey’s Twitch chat, viewers praised his behavior, calling him “based” and encouraging him for “educating” the kids. It remains to be seen if the lesson will stick with the students, but if anything, Joey’s chat was quite appreciative of his ability to maintain his composure.
