Overwatch Smurfs Return

Following the Christmas sale, a new wave of Overwatch smurf accounts has made the game “unplayable” for players across the ranked leaderboard.

Cheaters and smurfs are two types of players who aren’t particularly popular in the gaming world. While the former refers to high-level players who create new accounts in order to be matched with lower-level players, the latter refers to high-level players who create new accounts in order to be matched with lower-level players.

Of course, this means they’ll most likely destroy the competition, ruining games for those at the bottom of the rankings and stifling their ascent up the ranks.

It turns out that a slew of smurfs have returned to Overwatch during the post-Christmas sale period, and they’re wreaking havoc in games ranging from bronze to platinum.

Players have noticed an influx of higher-level players posing as Bronze-ranked ones following Blizzard’s holiday season sale.

“It’s really ruining the fun for me and I’m sure for many others,” they conclude, “but Blizzard will do nothing.”

Smurfs, on the other hand, have wormed their way into the game’s higher ranks, including Platinum. Blizzard’s decision on whether or not to ban these players remains to be seen, but whatever they do, they’ll have to do it quickly.
