Launch of Diablo 2 Resurrected

The game Diablo 2 Resurrected was officially published on September 23rd, and it dominated Twitch during its first few hours in the public eye.

The Diablo 2 Resurrected inferno has finally been launched after months of anticipation. As millions of players rush to Sanctuary’s desolate plains to rid the world of the Prime Evils, countless more have turned to Twitch to watch some of their favorite streamers battle the hordes. Diablo content creators have been waiting for a new sequel for a long time, and German streamer AnnacakeLIVE is celebrating by cosplaying as the classic Deckard Cain in a curiously amazing gender-bent attire.

Did Diablo, on the other hand, succeed to enslave Twitch? Or have the High Heavens thwarted his plans to rule the world?

On launch day, 9,407 heroes went head-first into Armageddon on stream, according to Sullygnome, with the game’s viewership topping at little over 414,000. Diablo 2 Resurrected is now the second most popular game on the platform’s home page, with Diablo 3 following closely behind in third place. Of course, Final Fantasy XIV Online is still in first place.

MrLlamaSC and Quin69 are at the top of the Twitch competitive ladder, with the latter gaining nearly 7k followers while playing Blizzard.

Furthermore, Diablo 2 experts streaming as part of the Maxroll.gg team surpassed 41,000 viewers and set two world speedrunning records in the process.

It’s unclear whether the game’s meteoric Twitch growth will continue, especially as players near the end of the story. What’s evident is that, despite the fact that Diablo 2 was released in 2000 (11 years before Twitch!), its plot and newly upgraded graphics appeal to both old and new players.
