Gilbert Gottfried, a comedian, died at the age of 67. According to a post on his verified Twitter feed, he died after a long illness.
According to a statement released by his publicist and longtime friend Glenn Schwartz to the Associated Press, Gottfried died of recurrent ventricular tachycardia caused by myotonic dystrophy type II, a heart disorder.
When Gottfried was about to tell an edgy joke, like this one from his Just for Laughs set in 2015, he always had a glint in his eye. Whether it was natural disasters or terrorist attacks, Gottfried told NPR in 2011 that the phrase “too soon” was never in his vocabulary.
Gottfired also worked as an actor, lending his distinctive voice to Disney’s Aladdin.
