Twitch streamer and YouTuber Dapz recently called a TikToker out for pretending to have Tourette syndrome. He is also a TikTok user with the condition but recently, he slammed another TikTok user for making up their tics and faking the condition for the sake of gaining TikTok clout.
The creator of the content examined a number of TikToker’s videos and determined what was wrong with them.
Tourette’s Syndrome is a nervous system disorder in which a person experiences “tics,” or sudden twitches. They can include twitches, body movements, or sounds that seem to appear out of nowhere.
After watching a TikTok video created by this content creator, he immediately criticized it. Dapz pointed out that Tourettes episodes aren’t funny or happy, but rather frustrating.
After watching another of these videos, in which the girl seemed ecstatic to have these tics, the Twitch streamer became visibly frustrated. He makes it clear that tics are not forced, and that if he waits for one to happen, it usually doesn’t.
Dapz was irritated by a video in which TikTokers rated their tics, prompting him to call this one out. He then mocked TikTok by talking briefly about some of his tics and giving them a 0/10 rating for being annoying and occasionally painful. Some of her content is relatable, according to the Twitch streamer, but it’s ultimately done for clout and popularity on TikTok, not for awareness.
It’s not uncommon to see someone on TikTok pretending to have Tourettes in order to gain visibility, popularity, or clout. Several users have reported seeing people on the platform pretending to have Tourettes in order to gain attention.
Many people are frustrated by how people will use a situation like this to seek attention or gain internet fame.
Others praised Dapz for disclosing his issues and providing accurate information about Tourettes. Tourette sufferers spoke up to thank the Twitch streamer.
Others praised the Twitch streamer for being so forthright about the TikTok trend. While these individuals did not admit to having Tourettes, they were grateful that the issue had been brought to light.
One YouTube commenter stated that they suffer from Tourettes, and that TikTokers like this cause them a lot of stress and frustration. This commenter allegedly has to deal with people swearing at them in order to “create” tics for them.
Some people had friends who suffered from Tourettes and talked about how frustrating it was for them.
Dapz, a Twitch streamer with Tourettes, did not appear to do anything other than raise awareness about the condition. His video made it clear that he was annoyed by a TikToker who was faking a disorder in order to gain clout on the platform and treated the condition as a joke.
