An In-Depth Look at Aydan’s Gaming Setup

Aydan's gaming setup

Aydan is one of the few streamers who went all-in and made it, as he went straight into fulltime streaming as soon as he graduated from high school in 2017. As with many others, his big break came for him when Fortnite released and his viewership skyrocketed thanks to his fps skills, and even more so after he was signed on with Ghost Gaming as part of their pro-Fortnite team in mid-2018. He remained with them until April 2020.

Although he now generally mains Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, his fps skills are still on par, so we have provided a list of the equipment in Aydan’s gaming setup below.

WHAT MOUSE DOES AYDAN USE?

Aydan uses a FinalMouse Ultralight Cape Town gaming mouse. The FinalMouse UltraLight Cape Town lives up to its name thanks to the lack of RGB lighting, as well as its plastic, hexagonal hole-chassis that allows the mouse to weigh in at just 58g (2oz.) However, it is quite small at 11.5 x 5.3 x 3.57cm (4.53 x 2.09 x 1.4”.) This can be adjusted with the three sets of infinity skins that come with it. Each set is a different thickness and can be layered on top of each other or removed, making it suitable for medium sized hands as well, although not necessarily for larger hands.

It is fitted with a PMW3360 optical sensor that can be set at either 400, 800, 1600 or 3200 DPI through the DPI button. It has an ambidextrous design with two macro buttons set above the right-thumb grip. Its polling rate is 500Hz,

WHAT KEYBOARD DOES AYDAN USE?

Aydan uses a Razer Huntsman keyboard. The Razer Huntsman is a full-sized wired keyboard that utilizes Razer Optical  ‘Light and Clicky’ switches that have an actuation point of 1.5mm and actuation force of 45G. The top of each switch is set with a Key Stabilizer Bar. It is built with an aluminum matte top plate on a plastic base, as well as removable key caps.

Its hybrid on-board memory and cloud storage allows for up to five profiles to be stored on the keyboard. These can be set on-the-fly with any of its fully-programable keys. It has a 10-key rollover for anti-ghosting as well as 1000Hz of Ultrapolling. Both the Chroma RGB lighting and macro profiles can be set though the Ryzer Synapse 3 software. Its dimensions are 14 x 44.48 x 3.5cm (5.52 x 17.51 x 1.38”) and it weighs 862g (1.9lbs.)

WHAT HEADSET DOES AYDAN USE?

As part of Aydan’s Gaming Setup, he uses an Astro A40 TR headset. Aydan’s gaming setup includes the same headset as Nickmercs’, Innocents’ and Aircool’s. It is an over-ear, wired stereo headset that weighs 363g (12.8oz). Its earphones are fitted with 40mm Open Transducer drivers that allow for a frequency response range of 20 – 20,000Hz with a nominal impedance of 48homs and distortion THD of less than 0.1%. Its 6cm microphone is unidirectional  and detachable, although it can also be flipped up.

The ear cups’ padding is lined with a layer of fabric over a layer of leatherette fabric. If the user would prefer a noise-cancelling design, they can buy a separate mod set for it. The headband is also padded and is adjustable.

WHAT MICROPHONE DOES AYDAN USE?

Aydan uses a Shure SM7B microphone. Shure SM7B is a large-diaphragm microphone that has a unidirectional polar-pattern. It is designed for professional voice and music recordings and offers a frequency response range of 50 – 20,000Hz, a sensitivity of -59dB and a nominal impedance of 150W.

In addition to its external, removable pop-filter, it also has an in-built shock isolation to guard against electrical interference from filtering through. It also features controls for bass roll-off and mid-range emphasis on its back.

It comes with a captive stand nut to allow for easy mounting and dismounting of the microphone onto microphone stands or boom arms, but not an XLR cable. It doesn’t run on phantom power but will require an audio interface nonetheless for its XLR cable.

WHAT WEBCAM DOES AYDAN USE?

Aydan uses a Sony a6300 camera for his streaming setup. The a6300 is a 4K mirrorless camera in the a6000 line that is pretty small at 15.75 x 14.45 x 132.1cm (6.2 x 5.7 x 5.2”) and 7.3g (1.55lbs). It can shoot Full HD at 120fps at up to 100mbps and at 50mps at full 4K HD. When recording, it can be set at 4x/5x slower at 30p or 24p for instant slow-motion footage. Furthermore, its 4D auto focus has 425 phase detection that can lock onto a subject within 50ms for up to 11fps.

These features make it excellent for IRL vlogging and adventure recordings but will probably be beyond the needs of a basic gaming stream setup and will also require additional hardware such as a capture card and cables, as well as additional software. WHAT MIXER DOES AYDAN USE?

Aydan uses a TC Helicon GoXLR mixer. GoXLR is a 4-channel mixer with slots for one microphone and one headphone input slot with options for both XLR and TS/TRS/TRRS jack. It can provide +48V phantom power as well as 70Db of gain. The Mic, Chat, Music and System channels each have their own dedicated volume slider and mute button.

The right-side of the GoXLR is divided into upper and lower sections, with the upper section providing vocal effect controls such as gender-bending, reverb, megaphone and pitch echo, with even more options available for download through its software. The lower section is for sample recordings that can be programmed for live sound-effects during podcasts, as well as limited mic-muting.
