Atrioc Addresses Deepfake Controversy

A clip that went viral earlier today owing to the discovery of a certain tab on a streamer named Atrioc’s computer was “exposed” as a result.

The tab listed the URL of a website that publishes offensive deepfake photographs and videos of other well-known streamers like Pokimane and Maya Higa, however that URL isn’t mentioned in this story to protect those involved. Atroic has finally acknowledged these claims after a brief period of quiet and has expressed regret for what he calls a “morbid curiosity” incident.

Atrioc apologized sincerely for his conduct in his most recent Twitch stream, and his wife could be spotted in the background. Atrioc stated in the stream that he merely glanced at the site once and that his visit was not a “pattern of behavior.” He also asserts that he can produce the receipt as proof that he only paid once today to visit the website.

Later, Atrioc’s wife interjects to emphasize that she does not see herself as the victim and is instead sending her sympathies to anyone who has been impacted or feels let down. “But I was on a regular website, and there was an ad on every video… and then I click it, and then I’m in this rabbit hole. I got morbidly curious and I clicked something. It’s gross and I’m sorry. It’s so embarrassing. I don’t support this stuff, I don’t believe this stuff, I’m not advocating for it in any way. I regret it, I would never do it as long as I live, I’ll never do anything like this ever again.”

Despite the fact that persons featured in sexual deepfake videos and photographs have not given their consent, viewing them by Atrioc is seen as more significant because the streamers he watched are his close friends.

Pokimane and Maya Higa haven’t commented on the video or Atrioc’s apologies, but other streamers whose names have been linked to the incident, such QTCinderella and Sweet Anita, have voiced displeasure and asked those who are familiar with the site to stop promoting it.
