Asmongold Take On ‘Viewbotters’

Asmongold Take On ‘Viewbotters’

The use of integrated streams by Twitch channels on websites bearing their brands to increase views has become a hot topic in recent years. Even though he was still on the platform, Ludwig spoke up about it.

Asmongold has also spoken out about it. However, the MMO streamer declared enough was enough when the subject came up once more during his show on December 14. Now is the time for Twitch to take action. He believes more needs to be done to eradicate it since it is a stain on the industry.

He said; “Embedding is the same thing, functionally, as viewbotting. The fact Twitch is not doing anything about this and they allow blatant viewbotters to maintain a top position in the directory is a joke. It’s an insult to everybody else that’s on the platform that are trying to earn and grow their platform and their presence online organically. It is just pathetic.”

Asmongold gave the two websites New World Database and Fextralife as examples. Both of these websites include embedded streams that are the size of thumbnails that unobtrusively pop up in various locations. Because it enables those hub channels to consistently “maintain top directory positions,” which in turn “holds down legitimate and authentic streamers with real communities,” the streaming star considers it to be “pathetic.”

After all, in his opinion, a significant portion of viewership is determined by directory position. “This is done to the detriment of the entire website. It hurts everybody.” Additionally, he called it “fraudulent” for marketers to pay Twitch to stream advertisements on these channels when no one can see them because they are embedded in tiny, muted spaces.

Despite the fact that these channels are raising some eyebrows with their tactics, they are not in fact breaching any laws, which is why Asmongold is urging Twitch to take action. The biggest star said, “It should not be possible. He sees it as a “detriment” because of the “tangible negative effect” it has on viewers and streamers who are looking for “authentic streams that have legitimate content.”
