Asmongold Criticized WoW Devs On Sexuality Related Issue

Asmongold

Asmongold, a popular Twitch streamer, has taken aim at Blizzard, this time over a minor change to the MMORPG – the WoW team has released a patch to “tone down sexuality,” and the streamer isn’t thrilled.

The latest World of Warcraft 9.1.5 update is generating quite a stir.

New weather effects for Stormwind and Orgrimmar, as well as more character choices, are included in the next WoW patch. In addition, the update includes a long-awaited change to the RPG’s four Covenants, enabling players to choose between them after completing specific levels.

The small print of the update, on the other hand, has sent the World of Warcraft fandom into a frenzy; the patch notes feature many HD graphics improvements for paintings, some of which have been in the game from the beginning.

The goal is to “tone down the sensuality” of ancient tapestries and set decorations strewn around the game, and WoW fans, like Asmongold, aren’t happy about it.

Wowhead was the first to notice the new PTR modifications on Wednesday, and they instantly grabbed the wrath of hundreds of WoW players. Asmongold, who had recently returned from his Twitch hiatus, was one of the first to criticize the modifications.

On the update, he commented, “What a f**king joke.”

The Twitch star’s comments drew a surge of retweets, prompting him to return to the Wowhead post to explain himself more.

“It irritates me to see the World of Warcraft programmers go back and modify material because it doesn’t correspond to their world view and message that they’re trying to promote through the game,” Asmongold remarked.

“I’m having trouble understanding the message.”

He went on to say, “It’s dumb and reductive. There’s nothing wrong with cleavage or sexuality, but there’s something wrong with acting as if there is.”

The modified artworks in question are of a robed lady in Stormwind SI:7 (her formerly low-cut robe has been closed) and Ravenholdt’s “reclining nude.” The second piece of artwork has now been replaced with a fruit dish.

Any further artwork modifications have yet to be confirmed by Dexerto.
